Board certified clinical psychiatrist working with adults in both psychotherapy and medication management
Anne Oscherwitz, MD
I am a board certified clinical psychiatrist working with adults in both psychotherapy and medication management. I have worked as a clinician for the past 25 years in several different settings, but primarily private practice.
I grew up in greater Cincinnati, Ohio in a small suburb called Wyoming with my three siblings and parents. After graduating high school, I received my undergraduate degree, Cum Laude, from the University of Pennsylvania with a Communications major and a Math minor. After a gap year working in the food service industry, I attended the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine and graduated with honors in 1995.
I attended Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s psychiatry residency program, and was honored to be named chief resident in psychiatry during my final year. Upon completion of the residency, I became board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry.
In the years following residency, I was voluntary faculty at Northwestern’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, supervising psychiatric residents. I initially joined the Psychiatric Associates, S.C. group in private practice. Additionally, I worked with an inpatient psychiatric population at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for several years while building up my private practice. During this period, I also worked in community mental health, as a psychopharmacologist for the Kenneth Young Center in Elk Grove Village.
I pursued further educational training and completed a fellowship program at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis focusing on psychodynamic psychotherapy.
In 2004, I opened my own private practice at 333 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1125, in Chicago, IL. Since the pandemic in 2020, I have worked virtually and plan to continue my practice by telehealth. I bring a psychodynamic and supportive approach to my clients. My practice has focused on providing support to parents who have children with ADHD, depression, women/pregnancy issues, anxiety, panic disorder and attention deficit disorder in an adult population. I am married and the mother of two young men, and enjoy a nice family career balance.
